Features
Xpress PVR is a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) system which frees you from TV
schedules. Find and track the programming you want to see and watch it whenever
you want to. Pause live television. Skip commercials. Record your favorite shows
permanently using your CD or DVD burner. Other functions like snapshot, time
shift and web program guide are available. Xpress PVR will change the way you
watch television.
Watch TV on your computer
Xpress PVR features an analog NTSC TV tuner (US) or PAL/SECAM TV tuner
(International) and a DVD-quality MPEG-2 video encoder that lets you watch
stunning high quality live TV directly on a PC or Mac monitor. With the
on-screen remote control, you can watch television with a lot more options than
regular TV. Xpress PVR enables you to time shift live television as it plays or
records. You can pause the program or repeat a favorite section without missing
any of the program. Then fast forward if desired.
Television plays in its own window side-by-side with other applications, at full
screen or even in the Dock. With its own infrared remote control activating all
of Xpress PVR¡¦s watch and record functions, you can also sit back in comfort
and enjoy television on your monitor.
Record TV on the computer
Xpress PVR records television directly to the your hard drive. This allows you
to collect and organize your favorite shows to watch whenever you want. More
significantly, it lets you program what shows you want to record. Xpress PVR¡¦s
manual control panel lets you record your favorite shows once, daily or weekly,
or you can use Xpress PVR¡¦s Electronic Program Guide (EPG) from for instance,
Titan TV (US) or tvtv (Europe) or (refer to your local guide) to easily catch
all possible programming options. Using keyword searches, you can enter the name
of a favorite actor, show title or type of show (sports, comedy, action) to find
exactly what you are looking for and schedule Xpress PVR to record it. The EPG
can be used anywhere you have Internet access.
Record Without Tapes
Xpress PVR can do everything a VCR does without the inconvenience of video
tapes. Xpress PVR needs only 0.6GB (MPEG1) of disk space to store an hour of
video on your hard disk. If you want a permanent copy, you can use your CD or
DVD recorder to burn a Video CD, Super Video CD or Video DVD that is playable in
your home CD or DVD player (Toast 6 Titanium is required to burn VCDs, SVCDs and
DVDs in Mac).
MPEG- 1,2, MPEG-4 and RMVB Video Encoding
Xpress PVR features Composite, S-Video and Stereo Audio connectors, allowing you
to hook up video devices such as VCRs, camcorders or DVD players. From these
devices Xpress PVR encodes video to MPEG- 1, 2,4 and RMVB in real-time, to be
stored on your PC or Mac.
MPEG-2, 4 are a premium-quality video compression standard, which is the basis
for DVD and Digital Television. This makes it simple to update video content to
DVD. Simply capture movies from the VCR or camcorder through Xpress PVR to
create a digital copy on your hard drive. A DVD recorder can then be used to
create the permanent disc.
