We designed the S400 notebook to be one of the most rugged semi-rugged computers ever built. The S400 was developed specifically for utilities, public safety, field service and military applications. A bright 800 NITs multi-touch display, Intel Core i5 or i3 processor and IP5X and MIL-STD 810G certification make the S400 a perfect solution for demanding work environments.

Faster Processor

With the latest dual-core Intel Core i7 processor, the S400 semi-rugged laptop performs up to 2 times faster than the previous generation. Clocking in at up to 2.3 GHz and with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.3 GHz, the S400 has the power needed for the most demanding tasks from intricate mapping to live video processing and license plate recognition. And, Hyper-Threading technology, designed to enhance performance by allowing each processor core to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, is included in every S400.

Solid State

Your S400 semi-rugged laptop can be configured with an solid state drive (SSD) for quicker boot-up, speedier access to applications, faster read/write speeds and lower power consumption. Since a SSD has no moving parts, it's less prone to the common scratches that occur in conventional hard drives, reducing your potential downtime.

Heat Dissipation

Most semi-rugged computers throttle down the CPU to control heat overload. Only the S400 semi-rugged laptop maintains up to 89% of it's CPU processing power when the computer heats up.

Built to Surviveâ„¢

We built the S400 semi-rugged laptop using our new KryptoShellâ„¢ body material. This new KryptoShell body allows the S400 to meet or exceed MIL-STD-810G temperature, shock, and vibration specifications including a 3 foot drop on six faces. Every port door and hinge was engineered to withstand a twist strength of up to 30 kilograms of force per centimeter. The S400 provides advanced protection against harmful dust ingress (IP5X) and is one of the most rugged semi-rugged laptops ever made.

Low Temperature

Being able to work in any environment is critical, even freezing cold conditions. By insulating the storage drive inside a heating blanket, we are able to boot the computer without risk to the drive or its data in environments as cold as -21ºC. The low-temperature feature comes standard on all S400's configured with the i5 processor.

Sunlight-Readable Display

Every S400 semi-rugged laptop features an advanced 800 NITs QuadraClear® display. Our QuadraClear solution combines proprietary technologies to reduce the sunlight's reflectivity and providing an effective contrast rate seven times better than other displays, while still maintaining the battery life you need in the field. The QuadraClear display is powered by LEDs that provide an energy efficient display that is mercury-free, durable and consistent in brightness over time.

Backlit Keyboard with Quick Keys

Available on the S400 is the same high-quality keyboard we use on our B300 fully rugged notebook. The island style independent keys provide a premium feel and increased durability while a red backlight allows you to type in the dimmest conditions without silhouetting yourself. Additionally, the red glow reduces eye strain compared to other backlights, reducing fatigue.

Customizable Quick Keys

Five quick keys located at the base of the display allow for quick toggling of the battery eco mode, QuadraClear max brightness and a blackout button increases safety by turning off all illumincation and sound. Two programmable buttons are available for system functions or can be mapped with your software for repetitive or urgent queries and tasks.

Ultrafast Connectivity

With both WWAN and WiFi access available, you can be connected 24/7 wherever you are, allowing you to improve productivity. Designed for next generation wireless technology, you can connect wirelessly for mission critical information at amazing speeds.

Vehicle Ready

The S400 vehicle dock by Precision Mounting Technologies features a small docking station footprint that was designed to disappear under the S400 in your vehicle. By connecting the antennas, peripherals and power to the docking station, you can quickly dock the computer in and out as needed during your shift.

Easy Access to Protected Connections and Ports

With three USB 3.0 ports, an eSATA/USB 2.0 combo port, a serial port, an Ethernet port, and a VGA port among others, the S400 semi-rugged laptop has plenty of ports to connect the peripherals that you use.
