The ASUS PRIME H370-A in Detail
The ASUS PRIME H370-A ATX motherboard for Intel processors from the 8000- series offer a total of two PCIe x16 slots, one of which is connected to the chipset by 16 full lanes while the other is connected with four. The board supports AMD's CrossFire technology and offers the option of installing multiple graphics cards at the same time. For additional upgrades and add-in cards the board provides four PCIe x1 slots.Up to 64 GB RAM can be installed in the four DDR4-DIMM slots and this will run in Dual-Channel Mode. RAM modules with frequencies of up to 2.666 MHz are supported by Coffee Lake CPUs. Additionally the motherboard offers two M.2 slots, which are connected to the chipset via four and two PCIe 3.0 lanes respectively and support ultra fast NVMe SSDs. The NVMe protocol enables data transfer rates of almost 4 GB/s. This makes M.2 PCIe SSDs up to eight times faster than SATA 6G SSDs! Six SATA 6G ports also allow users to install devices like SSDs, HDDs and optical drives.
The ASUS PRIME H370-A comes with two USB 3.1-, two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports on the I/O panel to enable additional peripherals to be connected. The LAN port utilises the Realtek-8111H LAN chip and audio is provided courtesy of the Realtek ALC887 chip. The connectivity of the board is rounded out with the addition of DVI-, HDMI- and VGA connectors to enable display output from the processor's integrated GPU.
Internally the motherboard comes with a USB 3.0- and USB 2.0 header along with COM-, Clear CMOS-, Chassis Intrusion-, Mono-Out-, S/PDIF- and TPM headers. In addition to a 4-pin header for CPU coolers the board also comes with three 4-pin headers for case fans.
