I wanted to connect two 30" monitors (2560 x 1600) to my laptop. The docking station that I had been using up to now only supported on 30" monitor and then at the same time another monitor up to maybe 1920 x 1080. So I started looking for a docking station that would support those 2 30" monitors. Very hard to find.
The only product that I could find and that would do that is this, the Startech Usb To Dual Displayport Mini Docking Station - 4k - Gbe - Usb 3.0 - Dual Monitor Docking Station - Displayport Hub - Multi Monitor Usba2dpgb. Plug and play. Actually, I think I had to connect each monitor individually first and then together. But it worked without much hassle. I also still have the laptop monitor (1920 x 1080). The Startech dock does not have additional USB ports, so I am using the old dock in parallel at the same time for USB devices, feeding the Startech through an USB 3 port on the other dock. Very happy.

Can connect 2 high-res monitors, 2 times 2560 x 1600, Can be fed from another hub or dock.
Nothing bad.

I bought an Ultrawide monitor with native res of 3440x1440. Both my laptops (an old personal laptop and a fairly recent work laptop) would not display anything greater than 1080p on the monitor.

I thought it was a limitation of the laptops/graphics cards however after a bit of research I figured that this DP hub may actually be able to give me the full 3440x1440 res via USB 3. Thankfully when I received it and plugged it in for the first time it fixed my problem immediately for both laptops.

It seems a tad expensive however still much cheaper than a new graphics card or even new laptops!
